WEEKEND 01, 02 September Normal Lessons and Hacks from 09:30

Pony Day is a day for children to ‘own a pony’ for the day. Included is basic horse care, an hour’s riding lesson followed by an hour long walking hack in the surrounding fields. Ponies and riders will be led, where necessary.

Each child receives a rosette at the end of the day and Pony Days are suitable for riders at any level. It is also suitable for Adults who are considering buying their first horse or pony

The Picnic Ride is suitable for Intermediate level riders who are up for a bit of a canter through the woods

Games Day is suitable for riders able to ride either alone or being led in walk, trot and canter

Fun Day is suitable for intermediate level riders who are happy to jump small – medium height fences in a series of Gymkhana style games, with lots of rosettes to be won

Cross Country Days are suitable for Intermediate Level riders who are happy to jump small fences in our Cross Country Field (click this link for photos)

Bronze Days are for those wanting to learn a little more about how to care for a horse. It is great for those who think they would like to own their own pony and a necessity for those who want to join the Pixie Club at Kim’s Equestrian Centre

Horseball Day is a bit like basketball and netball on horseback – please speak to Kim to see if this activity is suitable for you or your child

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE WEATHER FORECAST WHEN SENDING YOUR CHILD TO THE RIDING SCHOOL

Thanks to our all-weather riding surface, the holiday activities will go ahead, even if it is raining.

Please equip your child with waterproof clothes and gloves if it is raining or expected to rain. During hot weather sun cream is essential, even if it is cloudy, as the Westwick Wind does burn!

All the water on the farm is drinking water and water bottles can be refilled at the taps.

BOOKING TERMS – PLEASE NOTE

All activities are to be paid for in advance. Our cancellation policy does not apply for holiday activities.

There is a possibility to change days dependent on the availability of ponies. Whilst we endevour to give you the horse that you have requested this is subject to change.

If there are insufficient riders to run any particular activity the management reserves the right to transfer you on to an alternative day.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Birthday Parties are available on request for 2 hour sessions with a minimum of 10 riders. Cost £30 per rider. Please phone Kim for details.

Photo Gallery: Cross Country Day

Cross Country Days are just one of the holiday activities run at Kim’s Equestrian. The morning is spent taking the horses and ponies over Cross Country Fences, one at a time, in the Cross Country Field. This is to get them (and their riders) used to the fences, which are very different to the normal show jumping fences that Kim uses in lessons.

In the afternoon, the riders and horses jump the full course.

Dacorum Riding Club Show Results

DSCF5801 300x225 Dacorum Riding Club Show Results

Kim likes to encourage her Pixies and Customers to enter shows and, if they do not have their own, then they do have the opportunity to hire one of the Riding School horses or ponies for the day.

Dacorum & District Riding Club hold their shows in a couple of the fields belonging to Westwick Row Farm, so it is an easy (and safe) walk up the road from the riding school to take part in any of the five shows held during the Spring and Summer.

Here’s the results from the Shows for 2015 – all the riders/handlers featured are Pixies and Customers at Kim’s. Currently the August Show Results are unavailable and will be added soon.

Hello and welcome to the website for Kim’s Equestrian!

The location of Kim’s Equestrian makes it well placed to offer safe and good horse riding in the beautiful Hertfordshire Countryside, that is easily accessible from St Albans, Hemel Hempstead and the surrounding areas.

Take a look around the site and contact Kim if you need more information.

PLEASE NOTE: It is very rare for the Riding School to close due to the weather. Our All-Weather riding surface takes care of that.

However, in the event of adverse weather conditions, we will post a message on our Official Facebook Page if the Riding School has to close.
